Week 1 kicked off with a bang bringing us some great games. We had a few that were everything they were billed to be such as the Colts/Giants game, which saw elder brother Peyton edge little brother Eli in their first career match-up. The debut of T.O. for the Cowboys was ruined by a late rally by the Jaguars. The Patriots had to rely on a late safety for the win, but did not cover the line. We had several surprises including the Vikings who went into Washington on Monday night and out kicked the Redskins late for the upset. The Falcons defense, not the Panthers, dominated to stun the crowd in Carolina. In another surprise, the Rams ride their defense and their kicker who had six field goals to pull out the upset over the visiting Broncos.
Week two is upon us and we look forward to several games that offer enticing odds from Sportsbook.com
· Giants (+3) at Eagles
With a healthy McNabb and the addition of wide receiver Donte Stallworth, the Eagles lead all teams in total offense in week 1 with 441 yards. The T.O. departure in the offseason looks like addition by subtraction. Eli Manning and the Giants had their own offensive outburst in week 1 with 433 yard of total offense, second only to the Eagles. Despite the great play from these two quarterbacks, this game could be won on the ground. Running back Brian Westbrook looks for his 5th straight game with 100 + scrimmage yards against the Giants. Tiki Barber seeks his 6th consecutive 100 + yard rushing game against the Eagles. Look for the Giants to keep this game close covering the +3 on the road. PICK : Giants
· Texans (+13.5) at Colts
Peyton Manning looks to improve to 9-0 lifetime against the Texans. Indianapolis has outscored Houston 233-109 in eight games with only one of them being decided by seven points or fewer. An even more impressive stat between these two teams is the fact that the Texans have been outscored an average of 32-14 in four games at the RCA dome in Indianapolis. Look for the Colts to air it out early until they get a comfortable lead and then they will try to get the ground game going. Last week against the Giants, the Colts were unable to run the ball, gaining only 55 yards. The Texans were equally as bad, also only gaining 55 yards on the ground. None of that will matter as Manning will shoulder the load and pick apart the Texans secondary much the same as McNabb did last week. PICK : Colts
· Browns (+10.5) at Bengals
The Bengals offense was unable to get going in the season opener against the Broncos. That still did not stop them as the defense picked up the slack. Look for that to change this week as they face the Browns who gave up 326 yard to the Saints at home last week. Palmer and the offense will get a boost if wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh can return after missing the opener with a bruised foot. After scoring a NFL low 232 points last year, the Browns failed to score in the first half last week and were held to 189 total yards. Look for the Bengals defense to continue to dominate and for their offense to finally get rolling at home against their cross state rivals. PICK : Bengals
· Titans (+12) at Chargers
The Titans won only 1 road game last year. This year they are quite possibly a worse team with the loss of long time quarterback Steve McNair. They enter San Diego after a poor opening week performance at home. The Chargers on the other hand open the season at home after and impressive performance in the black hole Monday night. Their X-factor, LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown on 31 carries, surpassing the 100-yard plateau in the second quarter. With the Titan's offense playing the way they are and the Chargers defense firing on all cylinders, look for the Titans to be limited in the scoring department. All the Chargers will have to do is copy and paste last week's playbook which featured Phillip Rivers handing the ball off close to 50 times. PICK : Chargers
